What does it mean to be an Integrative Pharmacy?

Cambrian Pharmacy has changed, and is now an Integrative Pharmacy. With the storefront renovation, our philosophy, and new staff, we are a leader in the industry. Here at Cambrian, we are excited about our new image and direction, as it will provide more options, expertise and education for your health, all in one store.

Being an Integrative Pharmacy combines the traditional prescription and compounding pharmacy with complementary medicine options. Whether it is vitamins, supplements, nutritional support, homeopathic remedies or simply products that have better ingredients, healthier living starts here at Cambrian Pharmacy. It also means that the products in the store are healthier options than many conventional products. The products in the store have passed the test, ensuring higher quality and better ingredients. Our philosophy means that there is a careful selection process of the products that are in store to assure optimum quality, integrity and choice. You now have better choices and more options on what type of products you use, including even the food and drinks you consume. For example, when choosing a toothpaste you can chose a conventional brand name product or a brand that doesn’t include ingredients that you may want to avoid, such as artificial dyes and flavours, sodium lauryl sulfate, and triclosan.

We at Cambrian Pharmacy, value education in our staff and for you the customer. As such, we have filled the store with educational signs and information. Educating every customer to make informed choices regarding your health is our goal. From that core value we have assembled our team of experts, which are available to help you with your healthcare choices. This includes the many pharmacists and technicians, master herbalist, holistic nutritionist, medical esthetician and two Naturopathic Doctors.

At the end of April the store celebrated its transformation with a week of events, prizes and great product deals. A big highlight, and the largest addition to the store, was the Health and Beauty area. We now carry natural and organic health and beauty products, and an extensive array of natural cosmetic and skin care lines.

At Cambrian Pharmacy, we also have healthy beverages, snacks, eco home, and lifestyle products. Thus, a visit to the new store will be fun and educational. Our mission is to be the leading provider of traditional and integrative health solutions, provide complimentary health choices, customized medicine and education, in a caring customer focused environment. We look forward to seeing you soon.

How do you like to receive information?

To go along with the new look and feel of the store, we are also changing our newsletter format as well. We pose the question: "How do you best like to receive your information, and keep up to date on sales and upcoming events?" We are asking this question to our customers, in order to provide better service. Would you prefer an email, visiting the website, or information in-store, such as a newsletter, signs and posters, or hearing about it from our staff?

Take our survey on facebook or on our website, or email becca@cambrianpharmacy.com with an answer. You can also stop in-store and fill out a Cambrian Chats comment card with a response.

Recipe: Almond Coconut Macaroons

This easy-to-make macaroon recipe yields 16 delicious, large macaroons. It has been adapted from marthastewart.com.

macaroons

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 2 cups unsweetened, finely shredded coconut (Try Let’s Do Organic brand – available in store)
  • 1/2 cup whole almonds, chopped (Use unsalted, unroasted almonds, like Left Coast brand – available in store)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of coarse salt

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with a nonstick baking mat, or parchment paper. Whisk together sugar and egg whites in a large bowl. Stir in the remaining ingredients.

Note: If the coconut you are using appears to be in too large of chunks, shred them further in a food processor, or chop with a knife.

Form the dough into 16 mounds, about 2 tablespoons per mound. Place them on the baking sheet 2 inches apart, and bake until the bottom and edges are golden brown, around 15 minutes. Let cool on the baking pan for 5 minutes, and then transfer the macaroons onto a wire rack to finish cooling.

Yield – 16 Macaroons
Prep Time – 10 Minutes
Total Time – 35 Minutes
